Computer Lab
The computer lab is located in the Library Media Center and is flexibly scheduled. Currently the lab contains 15 Dell computers with one extra Dell computer for modeling program/task use. Each computer is networked. The lab computers are part of a LAN (local area network) as
well as a WAN (wide area network). The WAN provides full Internet access. Internet access is only allowed to students supervised by an Internet-trained staff member and to those
that have signed an AUP and has parent permission for Internet use. Elementary students are not allowed to perform searches while on the Internet. All sites have to be
pre-selected and bookmarked in advance by an Internet-trained staff member. Only curriculum-related material can be accessed through the Internet.
In addition to Internet access, software on the computers is consistent and is used to enhance the
classroom curriculum and student productivity. All lab computers have access to a magazine index called SIRS, World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia, and Encyclopedia
Britannica. Also available from our lab computers is Webmail, our staff electronic mail system. Students currently have no email capabilities through our district.
