Borrowing Policy
Students, staff and LMC parent volunteers may
check out library materials through the LMC automated circulation system provided a
current library card is in their possession. Students are restricted to having only two
items checked out at a time. Staff has unlimited access to materials; while parent
volunteers may borrow materials within reason. Students with overdue materials may not
check out additional items until overdue items are returned. Materials may be reserved by
completing the proper form. Patrons will be notified when their reserved materials are
available for check out.
Students may not check out materials for other students or staff members. Only LMC
personnel can check out items to staff members. Students must ask LMC personnel to check
out the requested materials to a specific staff member. If there is any question about
materials being checked out to a certain staff member, the staff member will be contacted
before anything is checked out.
If a student loses or damages a library card, a fee of $1.50 will be assessed for a new
library card. The replacement fee for library cards doubles after the first replacement.
No materials may be checked out without a current library card.
Any material that is lost or damaged beyond repair will be billed to the patron who was
responsible. This policy is no different from any public library borrowing policy. Since a
computer is used to check out materials, it is very easy to keep accurate records.
Students are responsible for maintaining their own library cards. They must make sure they
are always using the correct card.
Students come to the LMC when they need to checkout books. They are allowed to browse at their leisure and select from the easy fiction books (everybody books), fiction books, nonfiction books, and magazines. |
Students also checkout their books independently. The checkout process is listed at the circulation desk for the students to follow. Even Kindergarteners can follow the simple steps successfully. All students enjoy this independence. |

the circulation desk computer in the LMC.
Any Item May Be Renewed
Students are to take a date due slip for each item checked out.
If the student would like to keep it for another two weeks, they may renew the item once.
If an overdue notice is given to a child who believes the item was returned, please
have that child speak personally to an LMC staff member.
Student Library Cards
Each student has his/her own library card
and is assigned a patron number, which is their student I.D. number from the District
Education Center. Classroom teachers are responsible for the management of the student
cards. These should be placed in an area of the room that can be seen by all
students. They should not be taken home. Keeping the card in good condition is
the responsibility of the student. The LMC should be notified immediately if a card is
lost or damaged. A replacement for a fee of $1.50 will be charged to the student
for a replacement card.
