Supported Education

District 204 believes that the initial placement option for all children, with or without disabilities, should be their neighborhood school. This means that all children will have membership in a regular education classroom and will receive appropriate required I.E.P. (Individualized Educational Plan) services with regular and special educators working as a collaborative team. If a student's needs cannot be met with support at his/her neighborhood school, the educational team will determine an appropriate least restrictive placement option.

A continuum of special services are available to support the education of all students, including but not limited to: Learning disabilities resource, remedial, facilitators, social work, psychological testing and resources, speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy and adaptive physical education classes are provided as related services.
