Automated Weather Source Site in Partnership with NBC 5 Chicago
Wheatland School is part of the Automated Weather Source which has weather
sites across the entire nation. The school is one of many schools in the area that has a weather sensor station located on top of the building. The weather data is
transmitted to a digital display located in the LMC. The school is able to "see" data in real time. In addition, the weather station can be accessed by NBC Channel 5. The news station will dial in to gather the weather data being
collected electronically and will, at times, broadcast the real-time data on the NBC 5 News. The data also helps the meteorologists predict the weather that will be coming to our area short term and long term.
The AWS Weather Site also includes a section on their website that allows users to put in a zip code or city name to find the closest, most real-time data
available. Just use the Internet to access the URL:
http://www.aws.com to use this feature. This website will also give you more information about the Automated Weather Site that is utilized here at Wheatland School.
